Summer 2025 Multimedia Producer Internship (Graduate or Undergraduate)
The Brennan Center for Justice at NYU School of Law is a nonpartisan law and policy institute that seeks to improve the systems of democracy and justice in the United States. We work to hold our political institutions and laws accountable to the twin American ideals of democracy and equal justice for all. The Brennan Center’s work ranges from voting rights to campaign finance reform, from ending mass incarceration to preserving Constitutional protections in the fight against terrorism. Part think tank, part advocacy group, part cutting edge communications hub, we start with rigorous research. We craft innovative policies. And we fight for them – in Congress and the states, in the courts, and in the court of public opinion.
We are seeking an intern to provide video, editing, production, research and administrative support to staff in our New York office in our Communications department with our Multimedia team.
Note: This internship is in-person at our New York City office.
Responsibilities: All interns will assist with general research and administrative work for the Brennan Center, including coordinating meetings, and drafting routine correspondence. Additionally, there will be opportunities to attend and observe substantive meetings, events, and conversations on program work.
In addition to administrative duties, specific responsibilities for the Multimedia team include: Assisting with creating video assets for Brennan Center’s digital platforms. Interns will also assist on video shoots, edit short-form video, research stills, motion and music for video production and provide general administrative work for the Brennan Center and Brennan en Español as needed.
Fluency in Spanish (speaking, reading, and writing) is preferred.
Other responsibilities for the Communications Multimedia team may include the following:
Assisting on video shoots, including set up and filming using cameras, lighting, and sound equipment
Supporting with media management by ingesting and organizing video footage
Researching and gathering video elements, including sourcing footage, stills and music
Supporting team with video editing on Adobe Premiere Pro
Monitoring and researching latest social media trends to help inform team on emerging trends that influence video strategy and publication
Familiar working in a fast-paced environment, able to follow video production schedules and ensuring that deadlines are met
Collaborates with various team members on projects, comfortable receiving, tracking, and applying feedback
Ability to lift 40 lbs.
Qualifications: The ideal candidates are independent self-starters, friendly, cheerful, energetic, punctual, resourceful, positive, detail-oriented and highly organized. Must have a sense of humor! Interns must also have excellent research, writing and communication skills; a strong visual vocabulary, as well as a passion for our issues.
Candidates should be proficient with Adobe Creative Suite with preferred experience in Premiere Pro, AfterEffects, Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator.
Experience with Zoom, Dropbox, Slack, Basecamp, Eventbrite, Canva, Lumen5, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word is also preferred (Software license will be provided by company.)

Hours: Monday – Friday (9:00am – 5:00pm EST)
Pay:
- Undergraduate Student: $17.50 per hour
- Graduate Student: $20.00 per hour
Duration: May 27th – August 5th (10 weeks)

Note: The Brennan Center will follow the rules of your school regarding internships. Therefore, if a school doesn’t allow you to do a paid internship for some reason (i.e., receiving credit, etc.), then your internship will not be paid. In addition, if you are participating in a formal school internship program that allows you to work more than our stated hours, we will make a determination based on our needs and further assessment of your school’s program.
